Approach to underwater accidents and diseases – Part 1
Abstract
Turkey is a peninsula, both the sea coast and the periphery of inland waters is a very large area. Both our own people and tourists are increasingly taking advantage of this potential every year. In parallel with this, the increasing interest in underwater sports requires healthcare professionals to be closer to health problems to be experienced in this regard. In this article, underwater accidents are explained according to the stages of their occurrence in order to better visualize them in the reader’s mind. Since the entire article is long, firstly, after the physics rules under water are explained, health problems experienced on the surface or at any time of the dive will be explained, and the following issue of the journal will discuss the problems that may occur while diving underwater, at the bottom or while surfacing, and the long-term complications of diving.
