Abstract

Dermatological diseases constitute a significant workload in family medicine practice. Topical Corticosteroids (TKS) are medicines that provide great remediation in many dermatological diseases. Generally, they were investigated in 4 or 7 groups. These are in forms of pomade (ointment), cream, cold cream (emollient), lotion, spray, gel or corticosteroid absorbed tapes. They have mainly antiinflammatory, antiproliferative, immunosuppressive effects. However, they have side effect potential that may become serious if they are used in a wrong way. Family doctors take care of their patients’ health problems without any discrimination. Therefore, they have to know at least one or two medicines from each group with their indications, side effects and application forms in order to provide an effective treatment in dermatological diseases and to protect the patients from potential side effects.
